What Role Have SEZs Played in AfCFTA Implementation in Kenya?
& Are Special Economic Zones Critical for the Growth of Intra-African Trade?
Today’s post was supposed to discuss the different ways to help the Democratic Republic of Congo. But earlier this week, I received some good news that I had to share, mainly because I might need your help to make this good news a success.
Last month the African International Economic Law Network (AfIELN) called for research abstracts for its 2024 Bridge Conference.
I submitted an abstract and, on Wednesday, received the acceptance news🙌🏽🙌🏽🎉🥂.
My research topic is: An Analysis of the Role Kenyan SEZs Have Played in AfCFTA Implementation: Is It a Replicable Model for Intra-African Trade Growth?
Here is where you come in:
If you are in Kenya, do you think Kenya’s Special Economic Zones have played any role in implementing and growing the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA)?
If you are not in Kenya, what have you observed in your country, or what is your general opinion on the role Special Economic Zones play in increasing trade?
All opinions are welcome. Please leave them in the comment section below. They will be crucial in generating an actionable research paper.
I’ll also be attending the conference between 18th and 20th July in Dar es Salaam. You better believe I will take you, my dear readers, with me.
Thank you, Merci and Asanteni 🙏🏽, in advance. Feel free to use English or Kiswahili to give your opinion, my French is not Frenching yet. Here is a snippet of the research abstract.
Thank you for reading Africa: Not an Afterthought. We lead the conversation on how Africa can leverage technology, trade, regional integration, and PanAfricanism to build a continent that is no longer an afterthought.
