What is The AfCFTA Private Sector Database Platform?
A Detailed Guide on How to Register and Access It
On March 5th, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, announced that the AfCFTA Private Sector Database Platform was now available.
This is a tool the Secretariat developed to facilitate matchmaking between African businesses and help them trade more under the AfCFTA.
The goal is to help African businesses, especially SMEs, collaborate across countries, explore new markets, and unlock new opportunities.
For example, if you are a Namibian business owner selling “made in Namibia” hair products, the platform will match you with a Nigerian business owner who distributes ‘made in Africa ‘hair products.
As a result, both businesses expand, make more money, and access new markets. I went ahead and registered for the platform to give you a step-by-step guide on how to do it.

Takeaway
AfCFTA is all about making Africa one giant marketplace.
Similar to how you visit your local supermarket to purchase bread, with AfCFTA, Africa is your supermarket. If you are a buyer you can buy a product or service from any African country and as a seller, you can sell to the over 1 billion people in the continent.
Platforms such as this will play a big role in making this a reality because they help African businesses create a footprint all over the continent.
